Key Moments for Video Content: New Schema Markup Types ‘Clip’ & ‘Seek’

Google now supports two new types for Schema markup for video content. You may be familiar with ‘key moments’ which allows publishers to define segments within video content by including headlined timestamps within video descriptions.

When key moments are applied you may be rewarded with a rich snippet within (Google) search results that makes it easy for users to jump directly to a particular frame, as the below screenshot example shows.

Video Schema Markup

When it comes to applying Schema Markup, there are two types (currently in Beta):

1. Clip Markup

This type of Schema markup provides segments (clips) within video content to Google.

2. Seek Markup

This type of Schema Markup enables Google to use machine learning to automatically set relevant key moments for you.

According to Google, Seek Markup is still a pilot with plans to make it generally available in the near future. However, documentation already exists on Google Search Central – check it out!
